Getting involved in Host Abingdon is very rewarding. It is a great opportunity to learn about different cultures whilst helping others in the community. We provide training and support as well as the chance to join a fun team of fantastic people.
Here are a few things that our volunteers might get involved in:
- Sourcing practical items needed
- Providing some lifts e.g. for hospital appointments
- Organising social events
- Help with writing a CV and looking for a job
- Support with form-filling
- English conversation
- IT support
- DIY
- Networking with support services
- Roles on the Host Abingdon committee

Do you have a spare room that you could offer for short-term stays?
Some of our supporters and volunteers are Hosts on the Sanctuary Hosting Scheme run by Asylum Welcome. It’s a rewarding experience with training and support. They are looking for more people to join the scheme. To find out more…
